TEMPORADA DE CAZA (Hunting season)

This history is not exactly polished Or finished-

Finisterre is a town nestled between a mountain range and the sea, this town has seen many battles, raids, fires, but its habitants´ resilience made it resurge over and over. The mountains that surround this town are under the protection of the mountain deity, people called it Fernura. The weather is usually warm but windy, chaparral biome, think about Mediterranean forests, woodlands, and scrub. This story doesn´t take place in a REAL PLACE. Not Spain, not Italy, not Greece, not Morocco...

This land is enchanted with a terrible curse, once meant for protection now consumes and sickens all living thing, this curse was Fernura´s will but she couldn´t control it so now hundreds of years later the curse is still here. To keep the curse in line Fernura´s soul looks for animals to fight the curse, they are called The Cryptids.

Characters

ROSSO CACCIATO BORRELL

a troubled hunter that at some point fiercely defended hunting as a way to show respect to nature instead of animal cruelty from the meat industry. His ideals changed and now he hunts solely because it is the only way feels control over his life. He despises humans and loves his hunting dogs even though he doesn’t seem to fully understand their needs.

AUREO BIANCHI COVEÑAS

Aureo is a fisherman in his 40s, currently living alone on his little boat, feeling pretty unsatisfied with how life’s turned out. He was born into a wealthy family, but they eventually disinherited him. When he was young, his family dropped him off in this town to “toughen him up” which was really just a nicer way of getting rid of him. Aureo managed to build a solid reputation in the town before eventually moving oot. Now he spends his days fishing. drifting along the Mediterranean.

FERNURA MAKRIS AND MIRA THE LYNX

Fernura was once a deeply empathetic pagan woman. When invaders threatened her home, she begged the moon for help. The moon answered with a fierce curse, an entity that fed on negative emotions and rotted intruders from within. The town was saved but the curse kept feeding, and with no more enemies, it turned on the land.

Desperate, Fernura pleaded to the moon again. This time, she was gifted the power to revive fallen creatures and give them magic. Her first creation was Mira, an empathic Iberian lynx. They sealed the curse away, briefly.

Now, centuries later, both are gone. But Fernura’s soul remains bound to the mountain. The curse is rising once more, she now searches for new creatures to carry on the fight.

OSO

the beetle cryptid, Iberian brown bear and the oldest of the cryptids, (however the cryptid that has expended more time as a cryptid is Liebre) Oso was born blind and has a heart full of love, she is calm and can be a bit clueless sometimes, however when angry it gets extremely aggressive, their fur stands up revealing her blind eyes. She has chronic pain and the other cryptics do their best to help them. Its death was due to her inability to move.

CORZO

the fly cryptid, a white tail Deer full of life. It can't grow antlers and sometimes feels insecure about it, part of the reason why he started to get close to LIEBRE was because of her antlers. He died in a dumpster after she was shot down by poachers that only wanted his antlers. In its final moments he saw flies land on her body and in any other situation he would be grossed out but this time, he felt grateful for the company.
The green “hairs” are actually little flies that help it find food (rotten food, omnivorous)

LIEBRE

the ant cryptid, an Iberian Hare and the oldest with the cryptid status, She is quick tempered and anxious, its ears always alert, watching for any danger. It took a motherly role to all the cryptids. She died from sadness when an untrained hunting dog killed her babies. Its will to protect the weak comes from an anxious and paranoid mindset. She is very close to Corzo.

GATO

the moth cryptid, a snow leopard and caracal hybrid engineered in secret labs for warfare. But he escaped that fate in an car accident while being transported. Found in the mountains by young Rosso and Aureo, he became companion, elusive and wild. He never stayed put, slipping into the forest each night and returning by morning, as if testing the boundary between trust and freedom.In their youth, the boys built a small traveling circus around him. For a while, Gato dazzled crowds and lived among humans. But it ended in disaster. Poachers came, tried to steal him under cover of night. The boys returned home immediatly, but the damage was done. Gato vanished into the mountains, shaken and betrayed.He died later, far from human hands. But Fernura, the mountain deity, called him back. His fur turned more brilliant, reborn as a the moth cryptid.
